A duplex nail is a nail with two heads.  The purpose?

Duplex nails are normally used to build temporary structures, such as braces and scaffolding. They don’t go all the way into the wood, and are very easy to remove.  However, these nails can be used for anything that you build temporarily, where you know you will be removing the nails later on.
