How to Select and Install a Toilet. When it comes time to replace a toilet, be informed! Don’t pick the cheapest or the most expensive model. Be a savvy shopper! This article and the attached video include all the information you need to make a good purchase and install the toilet yourself, saving you hundreds of dollars. Consider:

Ease of installation: Since we are assuming that this will be a DIY installation (you can do this!), be sure to go with an easy-install model. These are labelled as such, and contain most of what you need to install the toilet.
Appearance: Consider if the fixture fits in with the décor of your bathroom. Is it the right size for your space? Does the color match the space? Do you like the style of the toilet? These are questions you can easily answer yourself. No one knows your style better than you!
Price: There are several manufacturers that are associated with quality products and which come with an affordable price tag. Another factor to consider is the length of the warranty. Consider your budget for the project. What does the price of the toilet include? Many toilets come with the necessary supplies and materials to install the toilet, such as a wax ring, flange bolts and a toilet seat, but some do not come with those items. Some toilets even come with custom tools to install the fixture, which make them so easy to install, almost “tool-free”!
Features: Toilets come with varying features. Do you have physical requirements which will require that the toilet be a specific height? Are you ecologically-minded and prefer a toilet with water conservation capabilities? Perhaps you have kids in the house, and a toilet with an anti-clog feature is important to you. Consider what features are most important to you, and you will be able to pick the toilet that best fits your lifestyle.
