Watch this video to learn how to repair/replace window sash cords on older wood windows, so that your windows will open and close again! We provide a detailed step-by-step tutorial on how to accomplish this task, including:
- All the tools and materials you will need to complete this job (cost of the new sash cord is nominal, and you will need some basic hand tools and hardware)
- How to remove and/or pry away the window stops
- How to remove the zinc weatherproofing strips
- How to open the door to the weight chamber and remove the existing sash cord from the weight
- How to prepare the new sash cord, attach it to the weight, and feed the cord through the pulley
- How to remove the old sash cord from the window itself, and attach the new sash cord to the window
- How to re-install your window and re-attach the stops. You will then be ready to test out the new sash cords!
