Watch this video to learn how to use an electric miter saw (also called a “chop saw”). This type of saw works well for making items where two pieces of wood need to meet at a corner, such as in framing. It is also handy when you need to cut a large number of pieces of lumber.

Thanks for another very informative video! I’m in the market for a miter saw…I have many DIY projects to do and currently will be tackling a board and batten wainscoting project for my hallway.
I’m trying to narrow down my choices on miter saws and I’m not sure which size I should go with. Are there any pros and cons I should consider between the 10 inch blade miter saw and the 12 inch blade miter saw? I don’t have a dedicated workshop, so I plan to use the saw on a fold out table made for supporting a saw like this, while using my patio area for cutting material.
Hi Magdalena, I would go with a sliding compound miter saw. It won’t matter so much if you get the 10 inch or 12 inch, because the sliding action of the blade increases the maximum width of the boards you will be able to cut. Even though you may not need this feature for the wainscoting, it will be good to have for future projects that require a larger cut. Regards, Leah
Good tip on the sliding compound miter saw, since I do plan on making some pull out storage cabinets for under the stairs. Thanks!
Amazing videos!!!…AMAZING!. Cannot believe I learned so much on that dry wall patching video. I don’t see any vids on hardwood or laminate flooring but the miter saw bit showed me how easy it ll make cutting my baseboards. I ve got 250 sqt to lay down today and i ll need all the help I can get. Learned alot about ripping boards with your circular saw video but since I m laying the flooring in my own crib I might as well spring for a table saw. Don’t wanna cut off my foot! lol thanks again
