The All-Mighty Multi-Tool.  Friends, we are often asked about what tools everyone should have in their home toolbox.  And we have devoted several posts and lists to talking about just those things.  If you’ve been following along with See Jane Drill for a while now, you already know how useful a power drill is, for instance, and that with the right bit, it can also serve as a cordless screwdriver.  You already realize just how incredibly useful a reversible screwdriver is, the type that comes with both a phillips and flathead bit.  You know that a utility knife can serve so many purposes, it would be impossible to list them all. And so on.  

But if you were to ask us about what our single favorite hand tool is, the tool that we go back to time and again, the tool that has given us probably 100 times the worth of its relatively small cost, we would undoubtedly proclaim that it is the multi-tool.  The hand multi-tool, that is.  It is one of those compact tools that comes with some or all of all the most helpful tools attached to it:  screwdriver, pocket knife, sockets, awl, scissors, you name it, you can probably find a multi-tool that includes it!  Keep one in your car, your kitchen, and your outside shed.  Throw one in your pocket as you go down to the basement to investigate that funny noise.
