How to Use a Manual Tile Cutter – Written Instructions. These written instructions go along with the video “How to Use a Manual Tile Cutter – Beginner’s Guide”. A manual cutter tile is ideal for making straight cuts on ceramic tile, however, it cannot be used for stone or for making tiny cuts or combination cuts.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Mark your tile in the place where you would like to make the cut
- Place the tile on the cutter, up against the fence
- Line up the mark on your tile with the cutting wheel
- Score the Tile: Slide the manual tile cutter forward (toward the fence) applying slight pressure on the handle, to score the tile
- Snap the Tile: Pull the handle of the cutter back just slightly, so that the cross-toggle is closer to the center of the tile. Grasping on to the handle, push down firmly, until you feel and hear the tile snap.
- You should have a nice, clean cut. However, if you don’t, you can smooth it out with a tile stone, a.k.a. “tile rubbing stone”.
And that is all it takes to use a manual tile cutter to cut tiles!
