Magnetic Stud Finder: It’s Basic, Easy and it Works!
There are times when you want to locate the stud in the wall quickly and easily, and you may not wanted to be bothered with a digital-type stud finder. For those times, you will want to keep a magnetic stud finder on hand, such as the Stud Pop model that we demonstrate in the video below.
Magnetic stud finders have been around for many years, and for good reason: they are inexpensive (generally under $10), simple and easy to use, and you can locate the stud in a matter of minutes. They will work not only on drywall, but also on wood paneling, plaster and brick walls.
Try one, and you just might like using it!

I watched your video about the stud finder. I live in a pre-war building and have found that beneath the wall surface, there is metal sheeting and concrete. Finding a good landing for attaching anything is a nightmare. Any suggestions? BTW…. I love your videos. They are informative and easy to follow. Your voice is encouraging as well.
Hi Barbara, the studfinder that I used in the video had a deep-scan feature that was intended to pick up metal, as well as electrical wiring. I can’t vouch for how effective it would be in your situation, but that is what it is intended for. You may want to research different studfinders that have this feature. Regards, Leah
