Friday Find: Liquilock Turns Water to Gel
One of the more challenging steps in a toilet removal job is preventing contaminated water from spilling all over the floor. The reason this can happen is that even when the tank and bowl are disconnected from the water supply, and the water is drained out, a significant amount of water remains in the toilet, invisible to the eye. It is inside the toilet’s internal trap.
This is why it’s important to keep the fixture as level as possible when removing a toilet, and avoid tipping the toilet in any direction, which could result in water being emptied onto your floor. This is messy, and can be unsanitary.
To help you avoid this problem, there’s an innovative product available now, which eliminates the possibility of this sort of accident happening. The product is called Liquilock, by Oatey. What is does is transform the remaining water in the toilet trap to a gel consistency. This prevents any water spills during toilet removal. Another great feature of the product is that you never have to remove the gel. Water re-liquefies it, allowing it to be flushed away once the repair has been made and the toilet re-installed. Liquilockt is also a great solution when you are permanently removing your toilet and replacing it with a new fixture.
