How to Install a New Doorknob with a Keyed Lock. Watch this video to learn how to install a new locking doorknob in an entry door. Changing entryway door locks is a relatively simple DIY project, which will take you about 30 minutes at the most to complete. The only tool you will need to do the job is a phillips head screwdriver. The cost of a new doorknob (a.k.a. lock set) can run from as little as $10 for an economy style, to above $50 for higher-end models. They can be purchased from any hardware or home improvement store.

- How to remove the old doorknob and latch bolt from the door
- How to install the new latch bolt, including how to adjust the position of the latch bolt, using the built-in sliding mechanism, so that it fits properly in the door
