Shine Up Your Car’s Headlights With Toothpaste. If you thought that toothpaste was just for your pearly whites, think again. Turns out that toothpaste is great for removing the oxidation from your car’s headlights. Oxidation creates that cloudy film that greatly diminishes your headlights’ ability to illuminate the road.  Just give your headlights a quick thorough scrubbing with a dab of toothpaste and a soft plastic scouring pad or an old toothbrush, and you can easily remove the oxidation on the plastic covering over the lights.

To begin, start with a small dollop of toothpaste, and rub the surface in a circular motion while applying slight pressure. (Note: you want to use plain toothpaste.  Avoid using toothpaste that contains peroxide or whitening ingredients.  You may want to test it on just a small area first) Once the plastic has been scrubbed thoroughly, rinse with warm water and a clean cloth, and then buff and polish with a dry cloth to shine it up. You may have to rinse the surface a couple of times to remove all the toothpaste before polishing. After the headlights are cleaned, you’ll be amazed at how much brighter your car’s headlights will illuminate the road! And you can do it for just pennies.
