Friday Find:  Thumbwheel Ratchet.  If you fancy yourself a bit of a backyard mechanic, and if working on your own car is mostly a guilty pleasure, you might want to consider adding a thumbwheel ratchet set to your toolbox.  It’s the kind of tool that you don’t know you need until you need it, and once you own one, you’ll find yourself using it faithfully.

What makes the thumbwheel ratchet a favorite of many mechanics is its ability to maneuver in tight spaces to loosen or tighten nuts and bolts that a standard ratchet cannot reach. Many thumbwheel ratchet sets come with 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 drives. The tool’s ergonomic and compact design makes using it comfortable, while also being extremely effective.

Thumbwheel ratchet sets are reasonably priced, often for as little as $12-$16. So, there’s no reason not to add this little gem to your home toolbox.  And don’t make the mistake of lending it out, as you’ll certainly never see it again!
