Do you need to fix a plumbing leak, but you’re not sure how to stop the water from dripping while you make the repair?  Copper pipes need to be dry before you start the soldering process, so figuring out how to do this is a necessary step.

Believe it or not, the fix for this is a pantry staple of most households…regular bread!  All you need to do, once you turn off the water and remove the fixture, is to stuff the bread up into the pipe to absorb and hold back any residual water while you make the repair.

And guess what? There’s no don’t need to worry about how you’re going to remove the bread later, because it will dissolve as soon as the water is running again, and it will flush right out.
