Feb 9, 2016 Denatured Alcohol: The Green Super-Cleaner
What makes denatured alcohol different from the drinking variety of alcohol? Basically, it is regular (ethyl) alcohol), with methanol added, primarily to keep people from drinking it.
Also called “methylated spirits”, denatured alcohol is a great and not-well-known cleaner for a variety of tough stains, such as :
- Removing permanent marker stains
- Removing ink stains from clothes of upholstered furniture
- Cleaning paint brushes
- Cleaning metals
- Removing tape and sticky residue from surfaces
- It also makes a great glass cleaner, removing tough dirt and evaporating quickly, leaving behind a clean, clear surface
The next time you are faced with a tough cleaning job, but don’t want to use a chemical cleaner, give denatured alcohol a try!
