How to Cut Ceramic Tile with a Jig Saw.
Need to make a cut or two in ceramic tile, but you don’t have a wet saw? No worries! You can cut the tile with a jig saw. This technique works well for making angled cuts and notches in ceramic tile.
While a manual tile cutter is the best tool for making straight cuts in ceramic tile, you will at times need to make notches, slanted cuts and smaller cuts in ceramic tile when you are laying down floor tile. This is so that you can lay down the tile in corners, tight spaces, or around objects.
To accomplish this task, you will need a power jig saw, equipped with a special (but inexpensive!) diamond blade. Make sure that the tile is securely clamped to your work surface before beginning to make the cut. While making the cut with your jig saw, you squirt water from a squirt bottle on to the tile to keep it cool.
And that is about it! Now you can easily make any type of small cut in a ceramic tile, using a jig saw. Watch the video below to learn how.

Hi Wanda, You are welcome, and I’m glad you found us too! 🙂
Cool tutorial! Cutting curves with a jig saw is definitely better than trying to use a tile nipper. I will have to look for one of these blades for my next tile project.

Amazing! I never would have thought about using a jig saw to cut ceramic tile. Thank you!
It would make sense to use a power jigsaw when it comes to making the notches and slanted cuts of a ceramic tile. Reading this and looking at the ceramic tile that I had bought, it seems like a power jig saw would help. Mainly when it comes to laying down ceramic tiles on the tight corners of my living room floor.
yes, it would be a good solution, especially if you do not have easy access to a wet saw
