Easiest Way to Clean and Store Garden Tools. Here is one of those simple, quick tricks that is super easy to pull off, and with a minimum of time and effort:
So it’s almost the end of the gardening season, and you will want to make sure that your garden tools are clean, oiled and ready to go when next spring rolls around. Here is the absolute simplest and fastest way to clean up your shovels, trowels, hoes, axes, spades and pitchforks before you store them away in your garage or garden shed for the winter season:
First, you will need a clean five-gallon bucket. Fill the bucket about 3/4 full of sand. Next, pour a quart of regular motor oil into the sand. All you need to do now is to stick your tools one by one into the bucket of oiled sand, and move them around a bit to simultaneously clean and oil your tools, and that is about it! You can put the tools away knowing they will be in great shape next year. You can even store a tool in the bucket of oiled sand if you would like.
