The Best Homemade Firestarter. You don’t ever need to buy a firestarter again!  And, a homemade firestarter doesn’t need to be complicated anymore.  You don’t need paraffin, egg cartons, dryer lint or any of that stuff.  You just need one ingredient to make a homemade firestarter, and it is most likely something you already have in a kitchen drawer:  Wax Paper!

On top of that, this firestarter will burn very hot and for a good amount of time (about 4 and a half minutes). This is an especially great firestarter for a fire pit or outside fireplace, because the flame is somewhat resistant to wind.  Here is what to do:

1.  You’ll need to cut 2 good-sized pieces of wax paper off the roll.

2.  Take the first piece, and compact it down firmly into a sphere shape, roughly the size of a snowball.

3.  Take the second piece of wax paper, and place the snowball in the center.  Roll up the ball of wax paper in the sheet, and twist the ends, so that it looks like a giant piece of saltwater taffy.

4.  Place the  wax paper package in the firepit or fireplace, arrange your wood around it, and light it.

And that’s it!  Now enjoy your roaring fire.
