Unique DIY Gift Idea: Personalized Coat Rack. The personalized coat rack is the perfect DIY gift for that hard-to-buy-for (or hard-to-make-for) person. The materials are relatively inexpensive, you can make it yourself, and you can be absolutely certain that they won’t be getting another one like it, either this year, or probably anytime in the future! We designed this personalized coat rack template ourselves, to solve a problem that so many of us have, particularly those of us with families: the disorganized, messy, cluttered front hall or mudroom. Sure, you can get one of those free-standing coat racks for a little bit of nothing, but just wait until people start piling coat upon jacket upon sweater on it, and it becomes a toppling safety hazard to anyone walking by!
Our personalized coat rack solves the problem. You can put as many or as few hooks on it as you would like. It is mounted on the wall, out of the way. And the best thing about it is that it is not boring, because the upper section, as well as the hooks and wood, can be customized dozens of different ways. Our coat rack (pictured) incorporates a chalkboard into the design, which is great for leaving notes for other family members, or even just doodling. You could achieve a similar effect with a whiteboard. If a noteboard isn’t your thing, how about a cork bulletin board? Of how about half a cork bulletin board, and half something else? You could also consider incorporating a collage of family pictures under glass, or a favorite piece of art, or a collection of letters. The possibilities are endless.
As for the coat rack itself, you can choose natural wood, or stain or paint it any color you like. The hooks can be just plain ones, or you can choose fancy hooks, such as the dragonfly hooks
